SPF Texas Preaches the Super Bowl

HOUSTON, TX- SPF members traveled to Houston, Texas the first weekend in February to preach to the “lovers of pleasure more than lovers of God” (2 Timothy 3:4) attending the 2004 Super Bowl, and neither the preachers nor the “lovers of pleasures” were disappointed. Proving as already known by descent people of all ages, the Super Bowl, as with any NFL event is just another excuse for godless riff raff to gather in great numbers to get drunk, fornicate and watch whores dance and take their clothes off. The football game is just the excuse for the open lewdness, drunkenness and revelry. The events transpiring between the field goals are secondary to the main event….acting like hell in the bleachers and out in front of the stadium.

In Front of the National Flesh Lovers Bowl

America has gone mad with the lust of the flesh and lust of the eyes, until twenty two (22) full grown men can make millions of dollars each year never growing up, still running and playing, and throwing balls around, falling on the ground, kicking at each other, and horsing around, while thinking that the 50,000 people sitting in the stands are actually there to watch them play like children. When the Bible says “the thought of foolishness is sin”, a two million dollar a year salary for behaving like it, is childish insanity. The “lovers of pleasure” take their foolishness seriously, and have lost so much of their adult minds, that they cannot see the stupidity and immaturity in grown men running up and down a cow pasture, throwing a pig’s bladder to each other, until one of them can run into the fence at the end of the pasture so he can earn the right to bounce the pig’s bladder off the ground real hard, and jump up and down until some other fool grabs him and carries him out of the pasture to sit on a bench and let lazy photographers take pictures of the sweat dripping off his forehead.

“When I was a child, I spake as a child,
I understood as a child, I thought as a child:
But when I became a man,
I put away childish things.”
-1 Corinthians 13:11

The people in the bleachers do not really care how foolish those twenty two spoiled, lazy brats behave. They came to get drunk, curse and swear, take God’s name in vain, and watch the professional strippers dance on the side of the pasture, with only enough clothes on to pass the US Supreme Courts obscenity test! Such was proven at this year’s Super Bowl, when most newspapers and media reports said little about which bunch of childish, immature kiddies won the game, but wrote volumes about the main stage stripper dancing at the half time event. Janet “act-like-a-ho” Jackson demonstrated to all of America what kind of people put on the Super Bowl, play in the Super Bowl, pay for tickets to the Super Bowl, broadcast the Super Bowl, and watch the Super Bowl. While that godless bunch of whoremongering, lascivious “lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God” sowed to the flesh corruption, the SPF “lovers of God” stood outside and preached the righteousness of Jesus Christ to all who had ears to hear.

SPF Texas Members Holding Forth the Word of Life

SPF’s Mark Vanderburg Preaching

The SPF’s Counsel of Record had sent the Fellowship’s standard Letter of Intent to the City of Houston, two weeks prior to the event, advising the City Attorney and the Police Department of the Texas State Chapter’s intentions to preach at the Super Bowl. As is standard practice, General Counsel advised the City of the Street Preachers’ Constitutional rights, and what the SPF intended to do, and what the Fellowship expected from the City of Houston’s Police Department. Providing numerous law enforcement and Federal references for the Fellowship to the Houston Police Department, SPF members were provided with excellent law enforcement cooperation, and protection throughout the event, as the SPF Street Preachers spent all of Super Bowl weekend in the downtown area of Houston, preaching to well over 200,000 people, beginning Friday night, and ending Sunday night following the game.

SPF Preachers in the midst of Houston’s Drunk Tank

As SPF’s Major Event Coordinator, Ruben Chavez testified, the enormous crowds at each Super Bowl are not at the game, but at the pre and post game parties held in the downtown areas. “Everything at the Super Bowl functions are nothing removed from what you would see at Mardi Gras in the French Quarter. It is the same nudity, same drunkenness, same revelry and wickedness”.
