Minister’s Creed
“And
they went forth, and preached everywhere, the Lord working with
them.”- Mark 16:20
Knowing “some
indeed preach Christ even of envy and strife; and some also of good
will” and others “of contention”, and “not sincerely”; yet as an obedient
soldier of Jesus Christ, being called to preach the word of God
where others fear to stand, and God having “enabled me, for that
he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry” of open air evangelism,
“I am set for the defense of the gospel”, and with this Creed
do stand and “earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.”
- As a minister of God I shall never
be “ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God
unto salvation to every one that believeth.”
- As a minister of God I shall never
be “ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of …his prisoners” who suffer unto
bonds for the defense of the gospel of Christ.
- As a minister of God I shall endure
hardness and never entangle myself with the affairs of this life;
that I may please him who hath chosen me to be a soldier.”
- As a minister of God I shall not compromise
but strive lawfully according to the
word of God.
- As a minister of God I shall never
forsake my “fellowprisoner in Christ Jesus”, or my “fellowlabourer
in the gospel of Christ” in the face of
an angry crowd.
- As a minister of God I shall not regard
“the person of men” for favor, nor
fear the face of any man to avoid conflict or harm.
- As a minister of God I shall reprove
sin where I find it, and fear no man in so doing.
- As a minister of God I shall be “gentle
unto all men” by the Spirit
of God, yet “strong
in the Lord, and in the power of his might”.
- As a minister of God I shall walk in
constant communion with Jesus Christ the captain of my salvation, in “the effectual
fervent prayer of a righteous man”.
- As a minister of God I shall carry
myself always as a man of God and for God, and shall in every
burden laid upon me and in every fight brought to me be faithful
unto death.
- As a minister of God I shall love Jesus
Christ with all my heart, soul, mind and strength, and shall daily
serve him with “gladness and singleness of heart” and “humility
of mind”.
- As a minister of God I shall perform
my duties to God in all “humbleness of mind”, and being “obedient
unto death” shall fashion
myself “after God’s own heart” in “righteousness
and true holiness”.
- As a minister of God, the honour of
Jesus Christ and “the preaching of the gospel of Christ” shall always
be far greater than I in all things.
- As a minister of God I shall quit like
a man.
